Tongue-tied Britons must stop relying on English and learn more foreign languages in an effort to boost exports, one of the country’s biggest business lobby group has warned.
While the British Chamber of Commerce has welcomed findings that more businesses are exporting than last year, it says that there is a significant shortfall in foreign language skills within the business community.

He called for the national curriculum to be revised so that studying a foreign language was compulsory until AS level and said that businesses must also invest in language skills for their existing staff.
